Andrea Says: Adventures to a 55+ community

Note: Blogger was down  yesterday and deleted this post from the previous day. I am reposting it.

Paul and Mike made it to Venice, Florida to a nice 55+ community where Mike’s Aunt Janice and Uncle David have a condo.

In fact today was their first day in the condo. Mike thinks their visit might be making some waves, especially when he was using a hacksaw to remove some bolts on his bike. I guess the security guy came over to check things out.

“And they aren’t supposed to have motorcycles here,” Mike explained. “And the very first day they have two guys with motorcycles staying here.”

The road to Janice and David’s condo was filled with adventure. So, we will start from the beginning.

“Today we got up in the morning at the Key West campground,” Mike paused to explain his wake up story. It is the same story every time, he gets up before his alarm and because he can’t fall back to sleep he decides to just get ready on this time “the sun was very, very low in the horizon, it was basically sunrise. So I got up and brushed my teeth, changed and when I came back I woke up Paul with all the noise I was making. We packed up our stuff and we were on the road at 8:15.”

Mike stopped at this point and added that they had breakfast.

“We ate chocolate pop tarts,” he said and explained that it was the WalMart brand. “In my book it is either s’mores or chocolate flavored pop tarts.”

The boys traveled back up the bridge out of Key West and another biker joined their group for about 50 miles.

When they stopped Mike said something about the “guy,” to which Paul corrected him. The guy was actually a woman.
Mike said, “That guy looked like the guy from Rumble in the Bronx that Jackie Chan hit in the face with a football mask.”

They traveled down Alligator Alley and got some alligator burgers that tasted just like pork sausage.

“It was very good but it wasn’t ‘oh my God this is alligator,’” Mike said.

They arrived at the Skunk Ape Research Center only to be disappointed by the lack of Skunk Ape stuff.  Mike said there was an articulate weird man that ran the place. The guy looked like Ziggy the Pinhead from the comics.

The boys paid $5 and got their picture taken with an alligator named scrappy (I can’t wait for these pictures!).

The boys went to Naples and then arrived in Venice where, “my aunt Janice served us lemonade and cookies,” Mike said.

He added that they were having a wonderful time visiting.

  1. Looks like Paul and Mike helped Janice & David make a grand entrance to their new (just passed papers that morning) "Seniors" condo by inviting a (small) motorcycle gang for the night. That's probably the most excitement they've had there in a long time.
