Andrea Says: Miami isn’t like a Will Smith song

So yesterday the boys entered Florida. They spent time in Saint Augustine and “it was really nice.”

“We liked it so much we got Saint Augustine stickers,” Mike said. He added that he also called his mom for Mother’s Day.

Then they stayed at a big campground called the Manatee Hammock campground where they had a view of the space shuttle hangar.

Mike said the other campers were a bit close but “that was alright because that hammock is like a sleep machine.”

Today they boys got up and wanted to get a serious breakfast.

“I wanted to get some eggs,” Mike said.

They headed to the Kennedy Space Center because based on Mike’s memory when he was a kid “they had a whole bunch of rockets out in the parking lot. But it turned out the memory was wrong and you had to pay for admission.”

The headed to a “sleazy and rundown diner.”

Mike got a cheese omelette and some grits because he was in the south.

“I don’t care for grits but I am glad I tried it. It is super bland. Paul put sugar on his grits and the waitress commented,” Mike said and added a southern drawl to his voce, “She said honey I can tell you are not from around her because no one puts sugar on their grits. You can have grits with cheese, you can have grits with pepper, I like mine with butter.”

Mike said, “I eat my grits straight up, like a man.”

Then they set off down 95 because they’ve seen enough of the roads in Florida

“It was a nice time. Then we hit bug cloud. The bugs are not bad once you get used to it,” he said.
They got to Miami around 2:30 found a hotel to shower the bug guts off and hit the road to find a nice Cuban place to eat. This search “took forever,” Mike said.

Paul and Mike both got a Chinese Cuban fusion. The meal contained fried rice with fried chicken pieces and plantains and sweet and sour sauce. “It was excellent,” he said.

“I saved the plantains for last, so it was like a little dessert,” Mike added.

They then went down to the beach to check it out and there were “super freighters out there.”

Mike said while he was driving he thought he saw a building move, like the train scene in Inception. It wasn’t a moving building, but rather a big ship going through a canal.

Then they returned to the hotel to do their laundry.

Note: The photos might not be in the correct order. I am going off of what mike sends me and sometimes the places all look the same. But here's a picture of Sean and Mike to make up for it.
