As Paul and I were making use of the Seminole Canyon State Park wifi at a picnic table (making earlier blog posts) I decided to take a walk around the park office to look for an outlet to plug our lap tops into. After I walked around a bend in a trail, I saw a couple of bikes pull up. Bikes piled high with provisions for a long trip on the road. Their riders were already admiring Fontaine and his twin when I came walking up. Jan and Joelle, our new friends, were excited to see Massachusetts plates, as they are from Connecticut. After I ran to get Paul (and accidentally made him think that Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman were here. Sorry.) they said that they are on a very similar trip to us, but even more condensed to only three weeks, and a little tighter of a loop. They left a few days later and have been seeing many of the same sights, but a little behind us.

They stayed to chat a while and we swapped stories and admired all of the bikes. Theirs were rugged to the bone. They looked like they had survived a war and could do it all over again. Jan's foot pegs were ground down to a sharp edge from grinding on the road. Impressive. As quickly as they arrived, they were gone again. The pair had a lot of riding left to do and not a lot of time to do it. Coincidentally, their next destination is the same as ours. Maybe we will see them in Roswell NM. Good people!

Then Paul went back to work in his office while I started dinner. Red beans and rice!
