Andrea Says: The day as retold by Mike while he stays warm in his hammock

"Today wasn’t a very exciting day. We woke up in the motel,” he said and added that he work up at 6 a.m. even though the alarm was set for 7. “I tried to go back to sleep but ended up getting up at 6:30. It was freezing.”

The boys packed up their gear and hit the road a bit after 8. The roads, Mike says, were twisty and hilly.

“Which can be fun, but not always,” Mike paused, “I think I would like it more in a car.”
He then added that at some points there wasn’t any guardrails, but so I wouldn’t worry he said “It is not like it was a cliff.”

Mike excitedly said that at some point he drove through a mountain tunnel.

“I was driving along and there was a mountain in the road and a tunnel and I rode through the hole and it was like the mountain didn’t even know,” he explained.

After a cold ride on the highway in and out of West Virginia and Virginia they boys ended up in Tennessee. From their accents to their mannerism, Mike didn’t seem impressed by the entire state of Tennessee.

“Everyone has a dumb accent,” Mike said.

Somewhere along the way, the boys had lunch at a nice café/bakery with an artsy gallery inside.

“I got a salad. It had nice salad stuff, field greens and cherry tomatoes and cucumbers and red onions,” Mike said and added that he also got a cup of split pea garlic soup, to “warm me up.  Paul got a turkey pastrami sandwich and tomato basil soup and his bread was huge.”

Mike also noted that Paul got tortilla chips, something he wished he received because “it would be nice.”

The landscape of Tennessee is like a super route one.

“We drove through mile and miles of this horrible town,” he said and went on to describe a very touristy area.

He said there were billboards for Dollywood everywhere nd there was this one ad for a dinner theater featuring a “long john wearing man that looked really surprised.”

Along the road there was a building that was half of the Titanic.

“It is just a giant ship sitting there on the side of the road,” mike said.

Then there was a giant house that was upside down. There were lots of helicopter rides being offered along the way.

Eventually the boys set up camp at the Misty River Cabins and RV Resort – Walland, TN.

And because I can’t just not share, here’s a few pictures from their journey yesterday.

  1. I want to make this point very clear.... Gaitlinburg and Pigeon Forge are not representative of the great state of Tennessee. They are Red Neck's Las Vegas. For real Tennessee go to Nashville.

  4. Nice dinosaurs. Did you tell everyone in Tennessee that Large Marge sent you? Incidentally, I think Troch referenced that sometime before your trip on Facebook. This trip of yours might bring people together, Mike.

Also, please make a "Sh** Mike Says."

  5. Nope, didn't see any. Is that exclusive to West Virginia? It doesn't surprise me that they have their own backward soda.
