Andrea Says: D.C. is “pretty cool”

A rather exhausted Mike retold the day's adventures about a half hour ago. Notice as you read, his favorite phrase tonight is “pretty cool.”

Paul and Mike headed into D.C. today where this woman (see picture below) took care of their bikes.

Mike says she wanted to pose for the picture and  he wasn’t sure why. Their journey to D.C. was filled with museums and whatnot around the Mall.

The road was closed to the White House, so they couldn't get close to see it. They hit up all the monuments – World War II, Korean War, Washington and Lincoln. At the Lincoln Monument Paul stopped to take pictures of tourists.

The aviation enthusiasts headed over to the Air and Space Museum where “some of it was pretty cool,” Mike said. There was also some space stuff there from the Apollo mission.

At some point they ate their packed lunches. Paul had ham and turkey and Mike had just turkey. Both sandwiches where on potato bread with gouda cheese.

The Museum of Natural History was also “pretty cool,” Mike said. But he was disappointed the mummy exhibit was so small. He said, in a very disappointed tone “there was A mummy. I thought they would have an entire exhibit. But the dinosaurs were pretty awesome.” (dinosaurs get an upgrade)

When they returned to the parking garage to get their bikes, the boys met a guy on a bicycle. This man told them of a similar trip he went on across the country on a motorcycle. Although he did it alone and he took 3 months. He said he was planning on hitting up New England this year on his next motorcycle trip.

When they returned to Laura and Brandon’s home, the boys ate well. Mike was excited to have the homemade pizza and salad with craisins and feta. From what I am told, 4-year-old Zoe entertained them with cheerleading cheers and her “pretty cool” ballet moves.

Tomorrow the boys plan to hit up D.C. in the morning and then head to West Virginia.

  1. You say "hit up" way more than I say "pretty cool."
